Lawyers: how the screens work
Keeping each matter on a project
Create one project per matter, under the client it is for. When you raise a fee note, pick that project in the invoice form’s project picker, so the fee note is filed on the matter. In the projects list, tap the project to open its page: Invoices on this project lists each fee note with its number, type and status, and Time logged shows the hours logged and how many of them are billable. Tap a fee note to open it.
Collecting Form 16A from clients
A client who deducted TDS from your fees owes you a Form 16A for each quarter. On the TDS summary, the Form 16A from clients card sits under the year’s TDS table.
- Pick a Quarter. Each client with TDS recorded on a receipt in that quarter is listed with the number of receipts, the TDS and the date the certificate is needed by.
- Once the quarter has ended, tap Ask for Form 16A, then Mark received when it arrives and Mark checked once you have checked it. A status only moves forward.
- The card only messages the client when you press Send, a button that appears only where sending is switched on for your workspace, after the quarter has ended and once you have asked for the certificate. Otherwise ask them the way you usually do. Either way, check every certificate against your annual tax statement.
- If the card says Form 16A requests are not set up, that part has not been set up on your workspace yet. Members who can only view cannot change a status.
